Bookshelf built-ins, custom closet shelves, mudroom cubbies... even secret doors! Carpentry might be my favorite service to offer, whether it be rough (e.g. decks, framing, etc.) or finish (e.g. built-ins, trim installation, crown molding, etc.) or something in-between!

Handyman Services

No job is too small.

Handyman rates (useful if you have a variety of small projects):

Full day (8hrs): $1000
Half day (4hrs): $550
Partial day (2hrs): $300

Typical services & prices:

TV mounting ~ $150
In-wall wire concealment ~$100 + materials
Ceiling fan installation (where appropriate box exists) or replacement (removal of old and installation of new) ~ $150
Furniture assembly ~ $75/hr

Landscaping Services

As time allows, I can offer maintenance for Charlottesville-area small to medium sized lawns (i.e. small enough to do with a push mower). I do not use gas powered leaf blowers and will leave grass clippings on the yard (it's good for the grass) and sidewalk.

Service typically includes:

Electric push mower
Electric trimmer (weed eater)
Light weeding / spraying (upon request)

I can also provide:

Mulching (delivery & spreading)
Tree / debris clearing & removal
Landscape design
Hardscaping projects
Planting / moving plants

A note on Handyman rates:

"Your rates are too expensive. Why are they so high?"

A tradesman (e.g. plumber, electrician, etc.) in and around Charlottesville typically charges anywhere from $75-$400 per hour, often with additional trip fees and sometimes significant markup on materials. Hiring a larger company can cost even more since you are also paying for company overhead.

A good handyman (or in my case, a licensed contractor) can perform many of the same tasks (within reason) as an electrician or plumber or drywall finisher or flooring installer or painter, etc. For a small project, why hire several people individually and pay all that extra overhead when one person can do the work from start to finish? Or worse, hire someone cheaper who may be unlicensed, uninsured, and/or not care about the quality of their work.

I have served hundreds of clients in Charlottesville & Albemarle County on jobs as small as assembling once piece of furniture, through jobs as large as a full kitchen remodel, to jobs as unique as building a custom maple bed frame. Each job gets the same level of quality, commitment, and focus. My rates may seem high, but you will be satisfied with the results.
